Come along a stroll back to the year 1279 AD. Heinrich Schrenk, citizen of Munich became famous as a loyal follower of Duke Ludwig II. of Bavaria(1253-1294), also known as „Ludwig, the Severe“. During this time, Munich – once founded by the monks of St. Benedict of Lake Tegernsee – became royal capital of the Wittelsbacher. The upright Schrenks also served Duke „Ludwig, the Bavarian“ (1281-1347) as wise councillors of Munich. Side by side they fought in devoted closeness. In 1313 they succeeded in defeating the Austrians. Imagine how proud the Schrenks were witnessing the coronation ceremony of glorious Ludwig becoming Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation in 1328.
Wise Bartholomäus Schrenk was chosen to become guardian of Duke Wilhelm of Bavaria. Balthasar Schrenk the Elder, councillor of Munich, well known as an honourable sponsor and donator, contributed to build the municipal fortification. Jörg Schrenk founded the rural nobility family Schrenk of Notzing, who in later times became well known and successful in Northern Germany.
In recognition of their great achievements, the Schrenks received the place of honour for their coat of arms at Munich town church in 1400. There your can also find the famous gothic Schrenk altar, a fine proof of art of those ancient times. The church tower „Old Peter“ has been an emblem of Munich up to now. St. Peter is the oldest church in town. Songs and legends enchant with her charming history.
Through centuries the Schrenks were established as court councellors, noblemen, patricians, landowners, chamber presidents, regiment councillors and lords of castles. Today the ancestral mansion is at Waldeck. Being old savants and healers, the Schrenks knew the secret power of heaven and earth, of the stars and the elements. As a consequence they settled down at a holy grove and founded the famous health center Waldeck. Feel like a king at Schrenk castle, located at the corner of the forest (i.e. the translation of Waldeck).
You reside at a mystic place, surrounded by mighty places of the Celts: Mount Magdalenenberg (600 BC) and Mount Dreifaltigkeitsberg, famous for its rites of the sun.
Join us on our journey in time, back to the traces of the first pile dwellings in 2 000 BC. The Celts settled down in 800 BC. The Romans followed in 58 BC. They bathed in our healing sources and introduced their tremendous bath culture.
With the Celts came the druids, the wise men, well known for their traditional knowledge and their outstanding healing art. With their golden reaping hooks they rambled through our woods and cut mistletoes for their miraculous medicine.
Old excavations stated the former place of druid healers and his special sphere. Feel the power that is still alive and brings healing energy in soft waves into the utmost small cell. These fields of force resemble in their pure high vibrations those of Lourdes or Fatima. Those strong ley lines, confirmed through analysis, had been looked for by the druids as natural places of power and healing.
The Johanniter Order, during the era of crusades keeper of mystic wisdom, also resided at this place. The facade design of Waldeck with its colours and symbols refers to this high order as well as to the impressive family roots that trace back to the year 1237 AD to our honourable ancestor Cunrat Schrenk.
The mighty family tree shows branches reaching abroad. Drutwin Schrenk was lord mayor of Frankfurt/Main in 1330 AD. Franz Xaver Schrenk developed Bad Dürrheim in 1881-1902. Members of the Schrenk clan settled down in England and France – the noble lily of bourbon at Waldeck refers to this part of the lineage.
Striking, noble characteristic traits marked the Schrenks. This is what the family name stands for: „screne“ in Old High German received as a special title of honour only upright men. The coat of arms – a fine work of art – stands for high values as well. It shows a shield with a glorious victories promising helmet. The flying arrow means sympathetic openness, honest directness and skilful speed. The belt symbolizes courage and defence forces. The bright colour red of the coat of arms refers to utmost luck und admirable generosity.
Discover the fascination of a traditional family history at Waldeck and feel the beneficial effect of an old healer tradition with radiance up to nowadays.
